how about TALKING instead of FLIRTING.
you're 12 years old,
save your flirting for 8th grade or 9th grade.
Talk to him and find out things he likes and be friends. that's the easiest way to NOT be shy. but, i still say don't flirt...
that's my opinion though.
Get your friends to talk to him and that's how it started for me.
